"These are the generations of the heavens and of earth" by Terry Haass, (Czech., 1923-2016)
Etching and Aquatint, ca. 1960's-70's, Ed. of 25, 10-7/8 x 13-1/2, full sheet 22-1/4 x 27-13/16,signed, titled and numbered in pencil, on cream Arches wove wove paper, lightly toned recto within mat opening, small handling crease to bottom margin, strip of brown water tape around margin edges from drying after printing, small abrasion with surface loss one inch outside lower left corner of plate, concealed by mat. A large and impressive abstract composition in a small edition by this fascinating and prolific painter, print maker and sculptor who's prints combine great technical fluency with a gestural spontaneity. Haass worked with William Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17 and enjoyed a long and distinguished career. Haass's work has recently included in Christina Weyl's great 2019 book "The Woman of Atelier 17" which explores the diverse expression and careers of many accomplished woman artists who created beautiful and innovative prints at Atelier 17.
