"Mare and Colt" by George Schreiber, (Amer., 1904-1977)
Lithograph, 1952, AAA Ed. of 250, 9-1/2 x 13-3/4, signed in pencil, on cream wove paper. Traces of old hinges top margin corners recto. A tender and beautifully rendered composition of a colt leaning towards it's mother, grazing nearby, while a farmer coils rope at right. The evocation of brilliant sunlight illuminating the edges of the cloud and the low vantage point of the viewer add to the monumentality of this classic regionalist scene by Schreiber.
