"St. Peter's of the Exchange, Genoa" by Frank Brangwyn, Eng., (1867-1956)
Etching, 1913, Ed. 150, G. 216, published by the Fine Art Society, London, 22-3/8 x 25-13/16, signed in pencil, on a sheet of medium weight cream wove paper 25-3/16 x 28-1/16. Dark toning to the margins from previous acidic mat and mount. This large print exhibits a tour de force of composition with dramatic lighting effects and a sweeping crowd of figures dwarfed by towering architecture; the foreground composition has always reminded me of Rembrandt's etching "Christ Presented to the People". Brangwyn at his best.
