"Diana with Two Deer" by Samuel Davis Otis, Amer., (1889-1961)
Gold -Toned Photogram, ca.1930's-40's, ed. unknown but very small, ca. 6 x 8, unsigned as usual, on printing out paper. From the artist's estate. Samuel D. Otis was a highly talented commercial and fine artist, proficient in many media. He started his career as an illustrator, and was deeply committed to the Silvermine Guild of Artists in the Silvermine area of Norwalk, Connecticut for many years, serving as it's president for a time. There is a strong Art Deco style to these photograms he developed using cut paper figures, with a playful, sensuous and highly erotic quality as well. Quite unusual.
