"The Field (Abstract No. 6)" by Jose Guerrero, (Spanish-Amer., 1914-1991)
Etching & Engraving, 1950, the plate reworked and issued in an ed. of 100, 1952, for Collectors of American Art, Escudero 6, 7 x 8-7/8, on thick warm white wove paper, with the usual pale tape stains to upper corners. Guerrero was a celebrated 20th century Spanish master of abstract painting, who also worked with Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17 in New York. Guerrero made a number of prints later in his career, but this is a rather early print of his produced at Atelier 17, the 6th of 14 prints he made in the 1950's, all but the last intaglio and made with Hayter. An earlier state impression of this print is held in the collection of The Brooklyn Museum.
