"The Tow" by Henry Farrer, Amer., (1843-1903)

Etching, 1886, Ed. unknown, 6 x 8-3/8, signed and dated copyright 1886 in the plate, with trimmed but sufficient margins,  a small spot in the sky near center, an adjacent subtle curved handling crease visible in raking light; substantially toned verso, on cream laid paper, probably Van Gelder Zonen, widely used for various publications including original etchings by American artists of the etching revival. Despite the condition issues, this is a fine impression of one of Farrer's most cherished twilight views; featuring poetically back lit sailboats and tugs in New York Harbor.
