Color Woodcut, ca. 1960, Ed.ca. 20, 9-1/8 x 5-15/16, signed in red in the block, l. r.,  on very thin japan, laid down to card stock, approximately 3/8" all around, these mount margins with thin spots and surface losses from removal of old acidic over mat, the print surface excellent with Ono's often subdued color. A founding member of the Sohaku Hanga "Creative Print" movement in Japan, Ono developed his special printing techniques to to describe the grittier industrial side of his native Japan, as well as the foreign subjects he portrayed which allied with his interest in political ideas and culture.
