Martin Lewis, Amer., (1881-1962), Chance Meeting
Drypoint, 1941, Pub. by Society of American Etchers, McCarron 131, Ed. 105, 10-1/2 x 7-1/2, signed in pencil, on medium cream laid paper, with full margins, 15-1/2 x 10-3/4, the original glassine hinges at top, a small stray 3/16 thread like spec of ink to lower right margin, a few minor handling creases, otherwise a rich, pristine impression of this great print by Lewis, with the orignal portfolio cover, tissue guard sheet, cover sheet with presentation essay on Martin Lewis by John Taylor Arms, and invitation blanks for membership, all in good condition. With the popularity Lewis's work has enjoyed, it is uncommon to have the original portfolio cover, which shows some creasing and edge wear, tissue guard, membership blanks and cover sheet with the essay by Arms accompanying the print, as issued.
