Regular price $4,000
Colored Ink Drawing, 1948, 10-13/16 x 14-1/16, signed and dated in ink, on smooth cream wove bristol board. Some staining along right edge, strongest at the signature in lower right corner. A complex and delicately rendered composition from the height of the Indian Space movement during the mid to late 1940's. The planar negative spaces here are given as much elemental authority as the ethereal structures and webs woven by the delicate concentric multicolored lines. Barrer was concerned at this stage with rendering visible the invisible or less seen ephemeral forces of nature such as wind, heat, and growth.
