"Figure with Ghosts" by Sabina Teichman, Amer., (1905-1983)

Pen & Ink Drawing, 1962, image 13 x 11-11/16, signed and dated in ink, on thick cream finely textured watercolor paper. There are two tiny spots towards the lower left edge , the crease above the figures head at left and rippling visible at the top edge of the sheet are intrinsic to it's manufacture, and Teichman worked the drawing close to the top and bottom edges. Teichman likely used a technical drawing pen and a light touch; the ink hitting the peaks of the textured paper to create her delicate swirling webs of sparkling line with pockets of dark clustered detail. The result is a masterfully realized yet ephemeral  study, well suited to it's subject. A finely detailed expressionist fantasy by the artist. Ex. Coll. Sylvan Cole.
