Regular price $1,100
Color Etching, 1965, Ed. of 6/50, 17-3/8 x 13-5/8, signed, titled and numbered in pencil, and further inscribed at top left "avec mes amities a Tiia-Krishna" ( Tiia Sahni, who studied printmaking with Reddy at Atelier 17) on Arches watermarked cream wove paper 25-3/4 x 19-3/4. Light toning within the previous mat opening, Krishna Reddy, born in India, and for many years in the U.S., carried on the innovative legacy of his mentor  Stanley William Hayter, as the former co-director of Atelier 17. Reddy was the author of the important technical study and instructional text: Simultaneous Color Viscosity Printing, the technique pioneered by Hayter and carried to new heights by Reddy, in which complex color etchings are printed all at once from one plate instead of carefully registering and overprinting a separate intaglio plate for each color. A fine impression of this plate, with subtle color touches and details.
